OFFLOADER 16X Feature Series 03 | How to Organize Backup Folders

Organized backups start with organized folder names.

This is the third video in the OFFLOADER 16X Feature Series, introducing how OFFLOADER 16X helps users organize backup folders and quickly identify media after backup.

In this episode, we explain how OFFLOADER 16X structures backup folders, how project folders are managed, and how users can choose between automatic and manual naming methods.

What This Article Covers

When a memory card is copied, OFFLOADER 16X creates a new backup folder and copies all card contents into it.

The backup folder is stored inside a date folder under the selected project folder, creating a clear and consistent folder structure on the connected USB drive.

This video explains:

  • How OFFLOADER 16X organizes backup folders

  • How to select or create a project folder

  • How Auto Naming and Manual Naming work

  • How Name Style controls folder name structure

  • How Manual Name Presets simplify repetitive naming tasks

  • How a USB keyboard can be used for direct folder name entry

Project and Date Folder Structure

All backups are organized under a user-selected project folder.

Within each project folder, OFFLOADER 16X automatically creates date folders based on the date of the most recent file stored on the memory card.

This structure keeps backups organized by project and shooting date, making it easier to locate and manage media later.

Auto Naming and Manual Naming

OFFLOADER 16X supports both automatic and manual backup folder naming.

When Auto Naming is enabled, OFFLOADER automatically generates the backup folder name using selected naming components.

When Auto Naming is disabled, users can choose or enter a folder name each time a memory card is added for backup.

This flexibility allows production teams to use a naming method that best matches their workflow.

Name Style and Auto Name Fields

Name Style defines which information is included in the backup folder name.

Folder names can include:

  • Shooting date

  • Offload sequence number

  • Slot number

  • Scanned card information

When Auto Naming is enabled, Auto Name Fields determine which scanned card information is used within the selected naming structure.

This helps create consistent folder names while reducing manual input during high-volume media offloads.

Manual Name Presets and USB Keyboard Support

For productions that require custom folder names, OFFLOADER 16X provides Manual Name Presets.

Users can create and store commonly used prefixes such as camera names, production units, or shooting categories, then quickly select them during backup.

If a USB keyboard is connected, folder names can also be entered directly for maximum flexibility.

Why Backup Folder Naming Matters

Large productions often generate dozens of memory cards each day.

Without a consistent naming system, identifying the source of each backup can become difficult and time-consuming.

By organizing backups using project folders, date folders, and flexible naming options, OFFLOADER 16X helps production teams quickly match backups to the original memory cards and maintain a more efficient media management workflow.
